PHmuseum is glad to open the call of its PHmuseum 2018 Women Photographers Grant, aimed at empowering the work and careers of female and non-binary professionals of all ages and from all countries, working in diverse areas of photography. The Grant further means to facilitate the growth of the new generations and promote stories narrated from a female perspective, while responding to the necessity to fight for gender equality in the industry.

The prizes include £10,000 in cash prizes plus several opportunities to promote the awarded works across media and festivals. Vogue Italia photography department, led by Alessia Glaviano, will select three works among all of the submissions that will be granted an online publication in the magazine. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and New Generation prizes will also be published on YET Magazine. Verzasca Foto Festival will instead oer a solo exhibition at a project selected by the festival‘s director Alfio Tommasini. All the shortlisted projects (up to 35 works) will be also projected at Photo Vogue Festival 2018. The winner of the New Generation Prize will also be automatically nominated for the World Press Photo 2019 Joop Swart Masterclass.

Applicants are invited to present projects of maximum 20 photos, centred around a concept or a topic, with at least four pictures taken from 2015 onwards. Submissions will be reviewed by judges Alessandra Sanguinetti (Photographer, Member of Magnum Photos), Aida Muluneh (Photographer, Filmmaker and Curator), Karen McQuaid (Senior Curator, The Photographers' Gallery) and Pamela Chen (Creative Lead, Instagram).
