Dalia Amara is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York with a practice based in photography. She received her MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in New York, and her BFA from Columbia College Chicago. Her work uses the domestic space and notions of home as a staging ground for the psychological associations of memories and experiences. Her work has been featured in Paper Journal, The Wrong New Digital Art Biennale, Latent Image, and Der Greif.

Home Fitness explores the development of my domestic partnership with Matt, and the navigation of both contemporary and traditional metaphors and ideals of desire, and the domestic space. The photographs include banal scenes from our apartment and surrounding environment, to the more obviously staged or manipulated scenarios. Through these images, my goal is to both adhere to but subvert ideals, a balancing act between the personal and the expected.
